Charlie R. North was raised in a small town in Northwestern Montana, where her passion for poetry began at an early age. Now settled in Iowa with her husband, she has raised their family while recently earning her MA in English Literature from Iowa State University. With her degree complete, Charlie is focusing on nurturing her creative voice and giving back to her community. Her poem, “Battered Secrets,” was a top finalist in Wingless Dreamer’s Calling the Beginning anthology. Charlie’s work has appeared in Poet’s Choice and Beyond Words Literary Magazine, and she is the recipient of Lyrical Iowa’s 2022 First Time Entrant Award. Most recently, her poetry was featured in The Cities of the Plains anthology from Grand View University.

Hey there! I’m Charlie North; a poet, artist, and self-proclaimed domestic adventurer. Welcome to my sliver of the internet, where I discuss on everything from identity and faith to the wild world of cosmetic surgery, parenting wins (and fails), and even the occasional existential crisis (and there are many). This all started when I looked in the mirror and no longer recognized myself. The woman I saw had tweezed, injected, carved, and sacrificed herself to fit an image that reflected the ideals of the world around her; and her spirit and body had begun to rebel. Who did I want to be? Who did I model my life after? When the fabricated appearance I had built began to fail, a radical encounter with God changed the trajectory of my life. So, buckle up, this is the fraudulent life of a millennial housewife.
